Fotograf und FilmemacherMeine Praxis verbindet dokumentarisches Erzählen mit einer ausgeprägten formalen Sensibilität – geprägt durch die Auseinandersetzung mit konkreter Kunst, seriellen Bildsystemen und der Frage, wie Bedeutung über Struktur, Farbe, Rhythmus und Wiederholung entsteht.
In Foto- und Filmprojekten arbeite ich an Themen wie Architektur und Stadtraum, industriellen und infrastrukturellen Orten, Transformationsprozessen, kulturellen Institutionen und künstlerischer Produktion. Fotografisch arbeite ich oft mit analogen Groß- und Mittelformatkameras und entwickle Serien, die sich Zeit nehmen: klare Perspektiven, präzise Tonwerte, Materialität und eine ruhige, konzentrierte Bildsprache. Meine fotografische Arbeit mündet oft in Buchprojekten – und im Edit schließt sich der Kreis zum Film. Filmisch komme ich aus dem langen dokumentarischen Format, realisiere aber ebenso kürzere Arbeiten – vom beobachtenden Autorenfilm bis zum institutionellen Film, der Haltung und Inhalt nicht gegeneinander ausspielt. Mich interessiert Film, der nicht nur informiert, sondern Atmosphäre erzeugt, Beziehungen sichtbar macht und komplexe Orte verständlich werden lässt. Ich arbeite konzeptstark und gleichzeitig praxisnah: Recherche, Drehplanung, sensible Arbeit mit Protagonist*innen, saubere Postproduktion und ein Blick für Details, die ein Projekt unverwechselbar machen. Häufig entstehen aus Aufträgen langfristige Kooperationen – weil ich nicht nur “Material sammle”, sondern eine visuelle Erzählung entwickle, die zum Auftraggeber passt und dennoch eine eigene Handschrift trägt. Ich bin in Hamburg ansässig und arbeite international. |

Photographer and filmmakerMy practice connects documentary storytelling with a strong formal sensibility – shaped by an ongoing engagement with concrete art, serial image systems, and the question of how meaning is carried through structure, color, rhythm, and repetition. Across photographic and film projects I work with architecture and the urban realm, industrial and infrastructural sites, processes of transformation, cultural institutions, and artistic production.
In photography I often work with analogue large-format and medium-format cameras, developing bodies of work that take time: controlled viewpoints, precise tonal range, material presence, and a calm, concentrated visual language. In film I come from long-form documentary, while also producing shorter works—from observational auteur films to institutional films that don’t separate clarity from attitude. I’m interested in film making that not only informs, but creates atmosphere, reveals relationships, and makes complex places legible. My photographic work often culminates in book projects—and in the edit, the circle closes back to film. I work conceptually and pragmatically: research, careful planning, sensitive collaboration with protagonists and partners, clean post-production, and an attention to detail that keeps a project from feeling generic. Commissions often grow into long-term collaborations—because I don’t simply “collect footage,” I build a visual narrative that serves the client while retaining a distinctive signature. Based in Hamburg, I work internationally. |
